JEROME KENNEDY FITZGERALD was appointed to the Senate of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on 21st May, 2007.
He is an attorney-at-law called to the English and Bahamian Bars in 1991. In 1989 he obtained his Masters in Law degree from King’s College, University of London and in 1992 a Masters of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Shipping, Trade and Finance from City University Business School, London. He interned with Elliott Lockhart & Co. for six months before moving to Nassau’s largest law firm, Higgs & Johnson, where he spent three years concentrating on litigation which included labor, insurance and maritime law. Jerome is the Chairman and a Director of RND Holdings Limited, a diversified company he co-founded in 1993 with several subsidiaries. The most well known of these subsidiaries was RND Cinemas Limited which was the operator of 4 multiplex theatres totaling twenty screens throughout The Bahamas for ten years until its operational assets were sold to Galleria Cinemas Limited in March 2004.
Part of the assets of RND Holdings Limited include two shopping centres in New Providence and Freeport, Grand Bahama respectively and a theatre building in Abaco.
Jerome also acquired extensive knowledge of and experience in his father’s customs brokerage and trucking business during his late teens and early twenties. He is a Director/Consultant of A. Scott Fitzgerald Insurance Brokers & Agents, an insurance firm started by his mother over twenty years ago.
Additionally, he currently holds directorships on the Boards of three public companies namely, RND Holdings Limited, Bahamas Waste Limited, and Freeport Concrete Company Limited.
He is also a former Deputy Chairman and Council Member of The College of The Bahamas where he served as Chairman of the Finance Sub-committee and is a former Board Member of the Education Loan Authority.
Among his leisure pursuits, he is an avid fisherman and sailor and loves traveling, particularly to the smaller quaint Bahamian islands.
